Trainings

All tutors will be trained for their duties. The tutor training consists of two parts: a two-day basic training will be organised from April 3rd to April 4th 2020 and a 4-hour follow-up training in August 2020. After the first basic training you can also participate in voluntary trainings and become, for example, an international tutor for exchange students arriving to HAMK.

The responsibilities and obligations of tutors

Tutoring is fun and you will gain a lot from the experience. Nevertheless, you shouldn’t become a tutor just to have fun – tutors have responsibilities, too. Peer tutor period is for one year and after a year in peer tutoring you can apply to continue as an responsible tutor for another year. Tutors must participate in the trainings and be active on their free time, too. They need to fulfill the tasks defined in the tutor contract and be responsible guides for the new students. Receiving proper guidance at the beginning of studies is extremely important.

What’s in it for you?

You are a tutor after finishing the compulsory trainings. As a tutor, you will make new friends, gain valuable experiences and also receive ECTS credits. Tutoring is a course, during which you will collect markings from the tasks you perform in your portfolio and at the end of your tutoring term, you will receive credits according to these portfolio entries. You can obtain 3-5 ECTS credits from tutoring, depending on your tasks and how active you are.

Please remember that you can only obtain the credits after attending to both parts of the basic training and working as a tutor for an entire tutoring period.

COMPULSORY TUTOR TRAININGS 2019:

In August 2020 2nd part of tutors’ basic training, a 4-hour training will be organised on each campus.
